The week leading to the first DunneCon

So let me just say, this has been a very typical week in my life post children.  Now, with PICTURES!

Monday- I MUST HAVE THE MOST PRODUCTIVE. WORKDAY. EVAR.
Me, at work on Monday.  *dramatic reenactment*

NOPE.  Spent all day yammering on about the Con.
It was cool, I had all these nifty ideas on how to make this not only a fun event for everyone, but get a few big names involved.  As it turns out, in the twitter-verse, asking a simple question and getting a simple answer is one thing, asking for a picture for your non-event is a completely different thing.

Tuesday- I need to do the things that I've been told to do.
Me on Tuesday *Dramatic Reenactment*

I spent 8 hours arguing with equipment at work, trying to determine how to get 2 projectors up and running.  I get it all hooked up to find that one of the components is not working all that well.  News of DunneCon spreads, but due to my working, I was not able to send out half as many requests as I wanted to.  It turns out running a Non Con is a lot of work!!

Wednesday-

After a long day at work, Steven and I take his son to go shopping for supplies for a Halloween project for school.  We reach Ann Arbor about 8:45pm and starving.  We are craving fried chicken, so we stop at the local KFC.  While we are getting ready to pull out of the driveway of the KFC, we see two police cars speeding in the general direction of our house.  We jokingly say "Party Time, DunneCon2015, and look, we even brought the chicken!!"
We proceed to our house only to find the two police officers are now banging on our door.
Our neighbor's kitchen is on fire.  We are finally given clearance to go into our house.
We have 2 starving cats and one VERY PATIENT dog waiting for us to let her out.
Upon entering the house, the two cats start telling us off in catese, and the dog gets so excited she poops herself.

Thursday- Naughty nurse is Naughty

Steven and I roll out of bed super late today.  I had a horrible nightmare than I'm not even going to mention the subject of, but trust me, it combines all of a mother's worse fears.  It took me quite a while to calm down enough to get ready, so we found ourselves leaving our house at 7:50.  We like to be out by 7:15, but usually end up leaving by 7:30.
So, we are running out the door.  We have to take out the trash because, cats, litter, dog poo... We make our way to Detroit, where Steven works as a nurse at a clinic.
We get all of the way to work with very little trouble.  Steven then steps out of the car, and as he walks away I notice I am seeing more of him than I should be.  A LOT more.
*dramatic reenactment*

He's on the phone with his co-worker as he walks away from me, so I can't catch him.  I try texting, calling, facebook messaging.  I just automatically start heading home when he responds a few minutes later.  "Is it that bad?"
"I didn't think those were assless when we last washed them."
"I have a lab coat, but if you want to run home and get me some new pants, I wouldn't stop you."
So Steven started out con a bit early with his rendition of an Alternative Lifestyle biker nurse.  No pictures ya'all, that was just for me.  #sexy

Friday- (hasn't happened yet)

If anyone's been following me any of this time, they know about my quirky Friday game, #stuffonmyheadfriday.
It's a simple 3 step process

1. Put a thing on your head
2. Take a picture
3. Post the picture on social media with hashtag #stuffonmyheadfriday #DunneCon2015

Steven and I will be all over the place this weekend, our location will be VERY mobile.  We will be documenting on here, on Facebook and on twitter.

Friday Oct. 30th, special event!!

Hello everyone and welcome to DunneCon 2015!!

As some of you may be aware, Dee does a silly picture every Friday where she puts a random object on her head, hashtags it #stuffonmyheadfriday and posts to social media.

The reason behind this is simple:  she lost custody of her 3 young sons due to some rather sad and screwed up events that we won't go into here.  (see her blog http://silencednomore.blogspot.com/ for details) Since she cannot see her sons, and they cannot see her, she puts a thing on her head every Friday to let them know they are on her mind!

So, for Friday, let's all do it!  Get creative, get crazy!  Hashtag it #stuffonmyheadfriday #DunneCon2015 so that everyone can see it!
The more ridiculous the thing, the better!

Friday's Event: Stuff on my head Friday, pass it on!!!!!!!!

Welcome to Dunne Con 2015

Dunne Con is a revolutionary new approach to the world of convention going.  Dunne Con is exactly what you need to be, exactly where you need it to be, and exactly how you need it to be.  How does one accomplish this in a Convention, one may ask?  I'm glad you did.

The con takes place in the comfort of your own home.

That's right.  The convention is held entirely in your own living space using only the resources that you have available.  All that is required to attend Dunne Con is a costume of some kind, the ability to take digital photographs or videos, an internet connection, and (this is the important part) the willingness to be completely goofy in the name of a collective good time.  The convention is a virtual meeting place where the geeking happens.  All the geeking.

The origin of Dunne Con is, as all great ideas, a simple one.  Halloween of 2015 was coming up and the original organizers of Dunne Con (Danielle "Dee" Dunne and Steven Dunne) were too broke to attend a conventional Halloween party and lacked the proper motivation to make their own home presentable for a real-deal shindig.  Genius was struck when it was decided that they would make their own convention and call it Dunne Con.  It started as a joke.  A throw-away line.  A quip.  It became so much more.  It grew into an institution.

Friends in droves started adding their own pictures and experiences to the contributory mess, leading us to where we are today.  The simple ask is this...during the weekend of Halloween, place a few silly photos, videos, or whathaveyous on whatever social media outlet of your choosing.  We ask that there be costumes involved.  And preference is always given to mirth and silliness.  Label these offerings with #DunneCon2015

Vendors are invited to share their online stores as well with the hashtag.  As with all conventions, vendor rooms are an integral part of the experience, and this virtual convention is no different.  The Dunnes love you and want you to be happy.  And of course there will be cake.  If you make it that is...

See you all at the con,

Love,
The Dunnes
